Google “Delorean” View

Seeing as I grew up and went through childhood in the 80s and early 90s, Back to the Future was pretty foundational for me.  Who among my generation doesn’t understand the intricacies of the flux capacitor or the significance of 1.21 gigawatts?  I’ve always dreamed of riding in a time traveling Delorean (even though, assuming no time travel, it seems like a junky version of a lamborghini).

Today, I saw what I can only assume will be the closest thing I’ll get to the view from Doc’s sweet ride.  Even though our address still doesn’t show up in Google maps you can switch to street view and do a virtual drive by of our house in August of 2007 when it had just been finished.  You can drive around for your self and see it personally in Goggle Streetview.  Just close your eyes and imagine that cool door popping up when you’re done and you’ve got your very own ride in a time machine.

You can also checkout some of the real houses from the movies in Google Street view.  This is the real house that George McFly peepedat to see his future wife (and then got hit by a car).  Looks like it’s been painted since the fictional 1950’s.  (Left – streetview, Right – movie view)

  1. I’m confused…do you mean 2007?

  2. Yep. Thanks for catching that. I made the change. I guess my internal clock/memory was thrown off by all of the time travel. What year is this again?
