Merry Christmas To Me

You may have noticed that the site has a new address.  In one of the dorkiest gifts ever, I recieved a domain name as a gift this year.  I’m now the proud owner of  I’m not sure what it says about me that I thought it was cool.  I guess I’m a dork.  But at least I’m a dork with my own domain name.

I will not highlight everything that I got but I did want to comment on a few of the cool/interesting things that I was given this year.

  • Baby Stuff – We got tons of cool baby stuff this year.  I think people were MUCH more excited about buying for our little guy than buying for us (which is understandable).  One of my favorites was this little onesie.  It was with a few others in a box when we opened it.  It reminds me of something from Leno.  I found it pretty humorous that it says “100% boy” and then shows a picture of a rhino.   Not only that, if you look closely it appears to be pooping.  I guess a pooping rhino = 100% boy.

  • Roku – This was probably my favorite gift.  I usually come up with some new technology gift to be excited about each year.  This time it was the Roku, a simple little box that allows you to stream netflix movies straight to your TV.  I’ve only had it hooked up for a couple of days and I’ve already watched 6 episodes of the office and 5 movies (Strange Brew – 3/5 stars, Journey to the Center of the Earth from 1959 – 4/5 stars for nostagia, Brian’s Song – 4/5 stars, Glory – 5/5 stars, and The Searchers – 2/5 stars).

  • Illini Rally Face Mask – I got this in a secret Santa exchange we did with Melissa’s extended family.  Mix in a little face paint and my orange stripped pants and I think I would make a pretty formidable fan.  (Go Illini by the way.  We just beat #11 Purdue in OT!)

  1. I guess there really are advantages to living in Indiana after spending most of life in Illinois…a good, solid place of worship (Indian Creek), the Colts, who can’t begin to be likened to the Bears…really similar to comparing governors…Mitch Daniels is dad gum OK! Also, so of us near Indy can get to West Lafayette in 1-1 1/2 hours to see exciting Fighting Illini victories over Purdue! Speaking of masks, not too many of the Matt Painter masks laying on the bleachers were being taken home…and a lot of Boiler fans agreed when the orange-clad faithful chanted over-rated at the end of the OT!

  2. […] 17, 2009 I just finished the first Netflix movie that I wouldn’t have watched without our new Roku streaming player (just because I doubt I would have gone out of my way to rent it).  It is a documentary called […]
