Video Game Wedding

My very good friends Josh and Bethany got married last week.  The only reason I haven’t blogged about yet is that I was away for the few weeks leading directly up to the wedding and I’m just now getting back into the swing of things.

They are great friends who Melissa and I have known since college.  I was the best man at the wedding and Melissa was the matron of honor and it was pretty neat to have such close friends (who we knew long before they ever considered dating) end up getting married and for us to be able to share the day with them.  I still remember when Josh told me he’d had a crush on Bethany for a while and how excited we were to see them get together.  I can’t wait to spend many more years of married friendship with them.

Since I don’t often end a blog post without tying in something weird or funny I leave you with this cool wedding cake that I’m sure Josh would have loved, had he known about it before the wedding.  It is a Mario wedding cake (more pics at flickr, via neatorama) and seeing as he is one of the biggest Nintendo fans I know, I couldn’t help but think of him when I saw it.  (The more recent example of his passion for old school video games… when picking up reading for their honeymoon travels Bethany got Real Simple while Josh got the 20th anniversary edition of Nintendo Power.)

  1. That is the most awesome cake EVER! I am one of the biggest Mario fans on the planet, so I totally love it. I don’t think I’d have the heart to cut it up and eat it, though. I’d have to laminate (shellac?) it and stare at it for a few years until it got moldy or the sugar dissolved. I’m gonna go stare at the pics on your Flickr link. Thanks for sharing! =)
