I made note to myself about this crazy story a few days ago. I thought about talking about it here sometime but last night I saw that there is actually video of it now so I’ve got to mention it. Apparently a guy from Oak Lawn, IL is so passionate about his beer that he wants to be buried in a custom made Papst Blue Ribbon Beer casket. To go so far as to build a custom casket based on a hobby (if you want to call drinking a hobby) seems just ridiculous to me. Of course, I’m definitely getting buried in an orange & blue casket but there is nothing crazy about that.
For you fans of The Office, when I first heard this story I couldn’t help but think of the episode from season 3 (Grief Counseling) when they decide to hold a funeral for a dead bird. Dwight’s bright idea is to try to jam the bird carcass into an old soda can. Michael sees him and yells at him. Dwight’s response, “I’m sorry. I grew up on a farm. We slaughtered a pig whenever we wanted bacon. My grandfather was re-buried in an old oil drum. It would have fit if he had given me another minute.” I know this is awful but when I first heard the story all I could picture was someone trying to stuff the pour guy into the opening of a giant beer can. Does that make me a bad person?
If that makes you a bad person you can rest assured that you will at least have the Looney toons by your side. 🙂
