I am almost always listening to something.  I like listening to audiobooks and podcasts a lot but when I’m doing any kind of writing or reading I need something else to listen to.  I’ve found that music usually helps me focus because there are times when the silence gets distracting to me.  Listening to something helps me focus for the first few minutes and then, once I’m focused on the task at hand, I don’t really even hear the music after that.

Last week I discovered Pandora.  It is a pretty simple website for listening to music online.  You just create a quick account (it’s free) and then you’re set to go.  From there you just type in an artist that you like and they create a station for you featuring that artists and others with a similar song.  As you listen you can skip a song or give each song a thumbs up or down to gradually customize the station for you.  And the best part is there are no ads (other than the small banner ads on the page).  Stations I’ve been listening to: Jack Johnson, David Crowder, Mat Kearney, Dave Matthews Band and Lincoln Brewster (it gives you a good mix of newer worship music).  If you want to see what I’m listening to or if you want to share your music with me you can visit my profile.  I’m always up for new music recommendations (of if you know of better music sites let me know that too).
