Mega Conference – A Different Perspective

Just 36 hours after I got back to Springfield from Florida, Melissa and I left for Phoenix, AZ.  I’m tagging along as the faithful spouse at Melissa’s mega church conference (a.k.a. vacation for me!).  We got in at like 1:30AM mountain time last night (2:30AM our time) and we were wiped.

We aren’t gone too often on Sundays but whenever we are we really enjoy checking out different churches.  Today we visited a large church in the area, Central Christian Church.  It looks quite a bit different than any church in Illinois!  One of the things about the churches I’ve been to out west is that they don’t have hallways.  It is kind of like going to a resort because there are buildings scattered around with info booths just sitting out along the way.  There were lots of fun colors it is was very welcoming.  We also don’t get too many cacti in Illinois churches but we’ll have to change that ASAP.

The conference kicks off tomorrow but tonight we had a date night.  Melissa and I walked around at a local mall and then hit Red Lobster.  Then we went and saw an IMAX showing of U2 3D.  It was incredible!  Bono was swinging his microphone right in my face.  Even if you aren’t a big fan of U2, the show they put on was incredible and it is worth going out of your way to see just to see the way that the technology has improved.  You still do have to wear some fairly goofy glasses but the show was great.
