This is probably going to go down as one of my favorite posts. My dad just sent me a fun article from the Daily Illini. I guess someone has been setting up a stand on the U of I quad each Saturday afternoon. Students can come by and destroy something in the name of art. How cool is that? You walk by and someone asks you if you want to smash something. I would think that is cool now but I loved smashing stuff even more when I was in college.
When I lived at the campus house, the guys I lived with and I would occasionally get bored and “pain train” something. Picture the fax machine destruction scene from office space but on things like broken air conditioners and old sofas (which we dropped off a balcony). One of my strongest memories from homecoming in High School (other than my first date with Melissa) is an old car that you could pay to smash up with a sledge hammer.
What more could you ask on an afternoon stroll than a chance to break something? What makes this even cooler… the art student mentioned is my sister! Super cool Andi! I was really proud reading this article.
