This afternoon in St. Louis we went to see the new movie Leatherheads. It’s got some great actors in it. I usually enjoy George Clooney and Renee Zellweger who I thought were both great choices for their roles. Plus it was fun seeing John Krasinski (Jim from The Office) in such a promient role.
For those of you who don’t know, it is a screwball comedy loosely based on the formation of professional football. When I was in school I did a project on Red Grange and it seemed a lot (in some ways) like his story. When he finished his last college game he signed a contract to play a 19 game tour for a “share of gate receipts that amounted to $100,000, during an era when typical league salaries were less than $100/game. That 67-day tour is credited with legitimizing professional football in the United States.”
As far as the movie goes, overall I really enjoyed it. It certainly wasn’t the best movie ever but I laughed a lot and both Melissa and I had a good time.
(Now for more of John Krasinski. We’re getting ready to watch the new episode of The Office right now!)
